Wow, I've only just started and I'm using words like "blogosphere". This could get ugly...
Anyway, I've started this blog to celebrate my love of crafts. And yes, I know I'm one of probably five million blogsters (see, there I go again!) discussing this affinity. However, sometimes my experiments turn out ridiculously, heinously awful. I will document that here. For example, I tried to make soap a couple weeks ago using the book "Soapmaking for the First Time" by Linda Orton. Soapmaking is not as easy as Ms. Orton indicates in the book title. In fact, if I washed up on the shore of a deserted island covered in seaweed and general ocean debris and I (for some reason yet to be determined) just so happened to have a piece of my homemade soap on me, I would seriously think twice before using it.
But I have also dedicated time and effort to a few crafts at which I tend to be fairly successful. I've been knitting since I was about 8 years old and I just learned how to crochet. I have taken sewing classes and love embroidery. These endevors tend not to turn out so frightening. I will document those too so that you don't think I'm some crazy lady with a house full of pipe cleaners and doilies. Also, I think it's important to note that I don't scrapbook, nor do I ever aspire to be a scrapbooker. In my opinion this is an entirely different world than crafting. I have lots of opinions...
I've decided to call this blog the "Crafteteria" mostly because I think it sounds cute. Also, some of my attempts at new crafts will probably appear a bit elementary, hence the clever name.
So stay tuned and read about my hits and misses. Try them yourself and tell me what you think.
Until next time, happy crafting!
